The court of Appeal on Wednesday ordered the immediate release of the seven KMPDU officials who had been sentenced to one month in jail pending the determination of the case.
All the parties in the case have been ordered to go back to court on Friday, February 23rd to report on the progress made so far.
Negotiations resumes immediately and will be spearheaded by the Law Society of Kenya and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights as this resumes immediately.
Senior Counsel James Orengo and Lawyer Philip Murgor led the team of lawyers representing the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union officials.
The seven were jailed on Monday by the Employment and Labour Relations Court for contempt of court orders which required them to call off the strike which had been declared illegal.
The jailed officials are Samuel Oroko, Fredrick Oluga, Titus Ondoro, Allan Ochanji, Hamisi Chibanzi, Daisy Korir and Evelyne Chege.
