Widow`s life in danger over defilement case
A 36 year old widow has claimed her life is in danger following her efforts to seek justice for her 13 year old daughter who was defiled by her late husband’s brother.
Speaking to Nam lolwe, the woman Caroline Akeyo of Minyenya in North Kamagambo ward, said that the suspect defiled her daughter a week ago while she was coming from church.
She had taken her daughter to Rongo Sub County where the defilement was confirmed
She said that she was away and when she came back, her daughter told her what had taken place and she decided to report the case to the area chief, a step that did not please many.
`My laws and other people sat in a meeting and decided to settle the matter at home in my absence` said a distraught Caroline.
She added that when she arrived she refused to take in the family decision to settle the matter and took it to the police a step that has put her life in danger since her in laws feel that she is tarnishing their family name.
The area chief John Agoro said that the suspect whose name was established as Samson Ochieng has gone missing ever since but they are working together with the police to ensure that the law takes its course.
Rongo OCPD Mr. Jonathan Muganda Kisaka said that they had received the case and investigations are underway.
He said that they are yet to question all the suspects involved adding that the main suspect escaped immediately he realized that the case had been reported to the police and is still at large.
