Confusion mars ODM primaries in Nyanza
The planned ODM primaries that were to be held today were postponed in the last minute after a press briefing by the National Election Board last night.
Early this morning,Siaya county voters woke up to the news that their nomination exercise was also pushed forward and be held on Tuesday together with that of Kisumu County.
This morning,the exercise experienced delays in majorly Homa Bay county following a mix up and the election materials finding themselves in Kisii,they later on around 11am were distributed in Karaachuonyo Sub county and the other areas.
In Ndhiwa,some poling stations were merged.The voters of Angiya polling station in the area protested the merge while in Suba South,voting material were taken to Magunga centre.Those of Suba North were taken to Lwanda Nyamasare polling stations.
The voters said they are not happy with the way the day has started noting that they were up early in the morning but have wasted a good part of the day waiting for the materials.
Up to midday,materials had not arrived at Kasipul and Kabondo Kasipul sub counties.The area MP who is also seeking re election said he was disappointed by the slow start of the process and hoped it will pick up.
A registered voter at Agoro Sare said he was at the station at 4am together with the wife and till midday the materials had not arrived.
For six hours we have been expecting to meet the officials but it has not taken place,but we are still hopeful` added another voter
Voters at Rodi Kopany protested the delay in materials getting to the polling stations and later the register was not among the materials availed.
The exercise however kicked off well in Migori county as the gubernatorial aspirants cast their votes.Sam Wakiaga cast his at Kaswanga primary school in Rusinga,Hon.Cyprian Awiti at Mawego primary while Oyugi Magwanga voted at Agoro Sare.
