More Youths to train on digital Literacy

More than 5,000  youths in Kisumu county are going to benefit from another phase of training on digital literacy come March this year. The youths will be picked from all the seven sub counties and 35 wards. Kisumu county ICT Minister Michael Onyango said they will only be targeting class eight drop outs in this phase of training as compared to last year where they picked from a wide range. The training he added will focus mainly on using the digital phones to create and improve their lives.This he says will be more helpful as it is what they own as compared The initial phase of the program took place last year which saw 700 youths get training on ICT. “We have gone forward to distribute some computers in local polytechnics and institutions so that those who had gone through the training can access them and practice” he added. He was speaking at the Innovate Counties Challenge that took place at the Acacia hotel. The Innovative Counties Challenge is a second phase project looking at empowering youths in promoting transparency and accountability of county governance through the use of ICT. The initial phase took place in Kiambu county last year.
